Tropical Storm Maring Causes Flooding in Metro Manila
Tropical storm “Maring” (international codename Trami) continues to pour out and it has been described as one of the heaviest rains in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, causing floods that have killed 8, turning roads into rivers and trapping people in homes and shelters. Schools, government offices suspended classes and work as well as financial markets were also closed because of torrential rain and floods. According to the news, the number of affected persons has also swelled to 600,000 throughout Luzon. The tropical storm has gained more strength and accelerated slightly northward across the North Philippine Sea. This storm will continue to induce the Southwest Monsoon bringing cloudy and windy conditions with slight to moderate to sometimes heavy rains across the western sections of Luzon and Visayas.
