Tropical storm “Maring” (international codename Trami) continues to pour out and it has been described as one of the heaviest rains in Metro Manila and nearby provinces, causing floods that have killed 8, turning roads into rivers and trapping people in homes and shelters. Schools, government offices suspended classes and work as well as financial markets were also closed because of torrential rain and floods.

According to the news, the number of affected persons has also swelled to 600,000 throughout Luzon. The tropical storm has gained more strength and accelerated slightly northward across the North Philippine Sea. This storm will continue to induce the Southwest Monsoon bringing cloudy and windy conditions with slight to moderate to sometimes heavy rains across the western sections of Luzon and Visayas. Flash floods and landslides are likely in hazard-prone areas especially along river banks and mountain slopes.

Let us pray for everyone who have been seriously affected by the heavy rain and flood caused by Typhoon Maring. Hoping this rain would subside soon. I know the feeling of being flooded since we have also experienced such a horrible tragedy when we were also a flood victim from Typhoon Sendong. Stay safe guys! Just be prepared and be alert always.
