Things that I've Learned as an Article Writer

Aside from blogging, I have worked as an article and web content writer from different clients that I found on Odesk. Its only a contractual job but I've learned a lot about different freelance writing techniques.

I just want to share to you some of the things that Ive learned from writing articles specially in SEO writing

Make sure the article being written provides value to the reader.

A keyword for every article will be provided below the title. If someone typed into a search engine the keyword would the post you write answer their question or add value to them in another way.

Google wants to deliver the BEST result so be the BEST.

Imagine if a good friend or family member asked or was looking for the information in your target keyword and you wanted to provide them with the best possible information.

Search for other content on the web for your target keyword and write an article that is better, more information, easier to read, more enjoyable.

How to Outline your Article Headline or Article Title?

The headline is the number one component for capturing attention, so it is necessary to convince the reader that could help them, encourage or inspire them or teach them something new.

The purpose of the intro paragraph is to pull the reader into reading the rest of the article. It’s usually accomplished by sparking curiosity, telling the reader about their problem, and how your article will fix it.

Make sure your intro paragraph makes the reader curious or clearly details the problem and how to fix it.

The body is the meat of the article. Make sure that the body of your message is unique and your content is tightly on topic and strongly centered on the subject matter of the desired keyword phrases.

It will also help that you will make your keyword phrase in bold or italicize or include it in the bulleted list.

Here are some other tips:

Include the keyword at least once in the first sentence or once in a header.

Make sure your article answers the reader’s questions and solves a problem.

The article must be the “best” for the given question.

Use bullet points, sub-headings, numbered lists throughout each article to make it easier to read.

Every article should end with a call to action

If the article about why someone should enroll in a class? Then the closing paragraph should have a call-to-action to “apply to a class today!”

If the article about buying a product? Then urge the reader to buy the product you talked about.

Did you also noticed the style of my writing? This is also one of the things that I've learned from copywriting specially in writing to sell products and services.
